Nova-Kaine has moved hosting from Drew's space (and whoever provided it) to the fine folks at Unixshell.org. There was a brief outage as the DNS was swapped and the apache/mysql came back up, but there were no problems in the transfer. Webstats and crontabs are being updated now; I think we lost a few days of data there.
If any of my hostees have any problems with things not working, let me know and I'll get on it quick smart; I'm pretty sure I got it all.

7/21's last ever party will be held at, obviously, 7/21 Marion Street on the evening of Saturday the 28th of January 2006. This will also be doubling as my 25th birthday party, so everyone must get twice as drunk.
There can be no excuse for not coming to the coolest party in the history of the world ever. Gather your posses, your gaggles, and your mopes, and come one, come all! (And bring people. There won't be much be much left there to break anyway....)
Lets give the flat the seeing out it deserves. It's done us well. And celebrate my making it to a quarter of a century at the same time =)

The Xenon engine (the thing that drives this diary (I refuse to use the word "blog" for the same reasons I refuse to say "lol")) now supports threaded comments, a la LJ styles, as opposed to the flat forum-style commenting we've had up until now. Should make things a little easier to follow, since the conversations are now in context.
As always, any bugs or problems, let me know.
Only 2 things left to do before an -RC release on this thing =)

Non-WoW geeks can skip this one. =P
Otherwise known as "Malek's guide to going from Hostile to Revered in 4 hours": join a 40-man raid group that's beating the shit out of 90% of Felwood and start killing every furblog in sight. That's more than 22 kills PER MINUTE. For four hours.
Additional bonus: Free HKs if the Alliance show up. More if they try and start a raid group to compete with you and completely fail to realise there's 40 of us and 10 of them.
Further additional bonus: The tiny amount of XP gained from each kill was enough to ding me to 60. Woo-ha.
This is the sort of slow, annoying grind that would take each of us individually DAYS of gametime. A large group blanketing three spawn locations, however, can get all of us into Revered in a tiny fraction of that time. I have no idea why no-one's done this before (and most of us were amazed at how fast the grind was and why didn't we think of this sooner?), but hell, it worked. I went AFK and stayed in the group to go to work this morning, so I suspect I'm nearing Exalted by now. Depending on if my computer restarted itself or not.

Since it seems everyone else is being riotously slack in the organising department, Paul, Craig, Drew and I are throwing a New Years bash at 7/21. I've already gotten hold of a few people, but the rest of you - come along! Drink! Dance! Be Merry! Open invite for everyone and their friends (except Carley cause she's still banned)!
In other news, I didn't get the room at 3C Eva that I wanted, it got given to some German tourists or something like that (and Hayley's moving out anyway so I wouldn't know anyone there. Scary.). I'm considering the room in 3A - its big and it has windows what open, which is always a plus. Big(ish) room, away from other rooms, $110 a week. External door (I was wondering how I was going to live without the secret passage, this solves that). Nice location. I think I might take it, unless I get a MUCH better offer.
Recording today. Going to lock myself in a basement on a glorious day like this. Ah well.
Alabaster Theatre gig was good. Saw lotsa people. Alchohol made me tired for some reason.

She looks like the real thing....
Wakefield st just got flooded out by a freak downpour. Pics here. Impressively wet.
Grace, Hayley and Harriet came round last night for the purpose of drinking. Harriet had a birthday. Everyone should give her stuff. There were SECRETS AND SCANDAL and Hayley left cause she's a piker. Then there was the stage, and more drinking and meeting of people like Julian and whats-his-name from Six Foot Thumb that used to flat with Ben. Oh, and Ben the gamesboi. Then the church to finish drinking, and then home. Drinking + just starting to get the hang of all this = not a very good idea. I overslept at midnight by an hour, and by 20 minutes at 4am. Am consequently rather shattered today, although I feel better after getting the 8am right.
Christmas is going to be boring. As is New Years, I expect. Especially when people are too busy to even say hello.
I think I also have a chest cold or something, I'm coughing all the time. Grrrr.

I was originally intending to blog this whole sleeping pattern thing the whole way through with a day-by-day type thing, but I just haven't really been bothered. Which is weird, because I'm suddenly finding out there's a whole mess of hours in the day I didn't realise were there =P. So I'll just give you a run-down.
Suffice to say it's going well. 72 hours down, only 8 of them asleep and I feel pretty good. Still having some difficulty actually getting to sleep when I lie down, but that's improving already; it only takes me 5 minutes to nod off now instead of 15 (or not at all). I royally ballsed up this morning's 4am sleep by not managing to wake up properly to the alarm, then falling back asleep and waking at 6, with the result that I feel like CRAP. It's odd - if i'd slept the twenty minutes, I'd be feeling much better than on the 2 and a half hours I got.
Today and tomorrow are supposed to be the horror days to get through, and compared to how I've felt at work some days after heavy bouts of drinking, I'm surprised at how easy this is. I've got the lack of concentration, fuzzy head, and general all over tiredness I'm supposed to have at this point - but I've had much worse just from being hungover.
Mentally I'm ok - alert but a little scattered, feeling a bit tired, but not the blathering mess I thought I'd be. Mebbe a little bit less cohesive than usual, I have to stop and think how I'm going to arrange things. Physically I'm fine - scratches and bruises I got from the mosh pit in Melbourne are healing at the normal rate (it's supposed to slow down your healing time initially), possibly a touch less co-ordination than usual. Again, that supposedly corrects itself as my body gets used to it.
No mood swings or grumpiness yet - in fact I feel quite chipper emotionally. Which is a surprise. A little on the creative/weird side, but my workmates are used to my sporadic outbursts by now =)
One sideline thing I've noticed on this polyphasic thing is that you drink and eat HEAPS. Which is only logical, I guess - 6 hours of my body running at a much reduced metabolic rate don't exist any more, so I obviously need more fuel to keep myself going.
More as I continue down this road, but it's... well, it's great so far =P

Stupid fucking flight got stupid fucking cancelled. Now I've been up since 3.30am and don't leave for Christchurch (complete with 4 hour layover) until 11am. I get to Melbourne at 5.20pm, instead of 8.35am.
